1st National Sexual and Gender Minorities’ Cultural Dance Competition held

The 1st National Sexual and Gender Minorities’ Cultural Dance Competition took place on June 25 at Rastriya Nachghar, Jamal where different sexual and gender minority dance groups performed cultural dances came together to compete in a program organised by Blue Diamond Society and Cruise Aids Nepal supported by National Centre for AIDS and STD’s Central and Save the Children.

The event as attended by chief guests Bharat Sharma, Ram Prasad Saptoka, Hisila Yami and Pinky Gurung, president of Blue Diamond Society who voiced their concern about the issues faced by sexual and gender minorities. The competition was judged by Govind Rai, Kamal Rai and Samjhana Budhathoki.

The first prize was won by the Nawalparasi dance group who received a cash prize of Rs. 50,000,  while second place was won by Bhairawa dance group and third place by Kathmandu who won Rs. 40,000 and Rs. 30,000 respectively. The complementary prize of Rs. 10,000 was awarded to the dance group of Kathmandu.
