Every accessory and inch of one’s outfit define their personal style, and these days, nails have become an addition to it.
A creative way to decorate nails, nail art is a type of art, which can be crafted on fingernails and toenails. It previously emerged as an indication of social status but now, it reflects fashion, style and glamour.
While classic reds and French manicures are still loved for being chic and elegant, the boom in nail art intensified with the introduction of eyebrow-raising colours like steel grey, neon tangerine and moss green, which completely have set new trends. Nails have never been in high profile fashion, and now, it is a popular culture that a new generation of young women adore. Women are using it to express their individuality, their fashion savvy, creativity and even their humor.
The ‘Jungstrong Nail Art’ has been one of the most prominent nail studios in Nepal with multiple branches operational in Kathmandu as well as Pokhara. They started off as a nail art training center in 2010 and by 2011, they were associated with Euro fashion and introduced professional international training.
In 2012, a new nail salon was launched at Durbar Marg, Kathmandu. “People finally realized the importance of nails in fashion,” says CEO and founder Sunil Jung Malla. According to him, gel polishes are definitely the most recommended ones at the moment, under which, people can still choose special designs according to their own choices and preferences. He further explains, “In Nepal, when people hear nail art, most of them tend to think of it as just a normal application of nail paints on top of their natural nails, but in actuality, nail art is more than that,” justifying, “If someone has no nails then extending their nails or giving new forms to their nails are also systems of nail art.”
He describes, “There are two ways of extending nails. First is the ‘Tip Method’ where nails are extended from half and coated with acrylic. Second is the ‘Sculpture Method’ where the foam is applied at the end and the nail is extended and decorated upon that.”
