Nattu Shah and her band ’11:11 NST’ with debut album ‘Nakkali Nani’

Nattu Shah has graced a page in the cover story ‘The Aces of Arbitrary’ published in ‘Page 33’ of this issue with her charismatic expression that also recollects her beginning and goings-on in the Nepali music scene. But this page, however, sums up about ‘Nakkali Nani’, the debut album launched by Shah and her band ‘11:11 NST’ on October 27 at Purple Haze Rock Bar, Thamel, Kathmandu during their album-launching gig.

The band’s debut album is a mix-bag of pop and love songs and are in a dramatic line of love stages. For instance, while the song ‘Sahara’ talks about how someone remains to be with someone else in times of need and seek their support, the song ‘Nindreni Ko Aas Bho’ talks about the tragic break up when the love birds later break up. Likewise, the sixth song ‘Prashna’ reflects the happenings that occur the in breakup phase. The album runs with other five songs, namely, ‘Nakkali Nani’, ‘Sadhai’, ‘Ghari Ghari’, ‘Hey Rama’, and ‘Ma Dherai’ which were recorded at Sound Fusion, and to listen to these, you don’t need to purchase a compact disc; however, the band has adopted an unique channel to let you listen to their songs.

Shah explains, “Launching a studio album in a compact disc is not a thing of today’s time, so we have launched something that looks like a CD cover but if you open it, it contains a unique barcode and you can scan it to divert to a website and download the album.”

Praising Samragyee’s work in the video, Shah says, “This video has cut off her stereotype because she usually does lovey-dovey roles in movies and now, she has portrayed as someone who can effortlessly do tough roles like the person she is in reality.”

Following the album launch, the band toured around eight different cities of Nepal from October 29 till November 5. The cities included Birtamode, Damak, Hetauda, Chitwan, Bharatpur, Butwal, Bhirawaha, and Pokhara.Nattu Shah and her band '11:11 NST'
‘11:11 NST’ comprises of Nattu Shah on vocals, Dipankar Gautam Chettri and Rikesh Manandhar on guitars, Sanjay Awale aka Jeson on drums, Niranjan Regmi on bass, and band manager Bijay Basnet. Earlier, the band members have worked with artists like Ciney Gurung, Abhaya Subba, Dibya Subba, and many more.
