Nepal to be Represented in Miss and Mr. Deaf International 2017


Nepal will be sending representatives to the Miss and Mr. Deaf International Pageant for the first time which is to be held in Paris France form July 10 to 17. Creative Hands for Deaf Women, an organization established in 2011, selected Ms. Suravi Manandhar and Mr. Janak Raj Bhatta, from a host of applicants that applied, to represent Nepal in the Competition. With the help from The Hidden Treasure, the organization was able to prepare the participants for their first ever participation on an international level.

In a press conference held on July 6, representatives from The Hidden Treasure and Creative Hands for Deaf Women were present along with the two representatives, Ms. Suravi Manandhar and Mr. Janak Raj Bhatta.

Ms. Sikha Pradhan of the Creative Hands for Deaf Women organization explained about the selection process, in which the organization spread the word using social media and collected applications. Then the best applicants were put through a series of interviews to select the final representatives. The organization helps create a platform for the hearing impaired by extending aids in education and  employment and also provide cultural and social upliftment.

Mr. Gopal Sunder Lal Kakshapati, Chairman of The Hidden Treasures extended his gratitude toward Creative Hands for Deaf Women on taking the initiative of such a project. The organization were short of time for the preparation of the participants and in only of month, with the help of The Hidden Treasures, the two participants were trained in the general etiquettes.

Mr. Kakshapati also extended his gratitude to Ms. Misu Shrestha, One Women’s Planet and Akarshan Boutique for the dresses and Ms Rachana Gurung Sharma, Ms. Malvika Subba, Ms. Asmi Shrestha and Mr, Raj Bhai Suwal for the grooming of the participants.

As for the participants, both were thankful for the opportunity provided by the Creative Hands for Deaf Women and The Hidden Treasure and felt proud to represent the country.
