Shangri-la celebrates Christmas Cake mixing ceremony
When Christmas is fast approaching, Shangri-la Hotel organised its traditional Christmas Cake Mixing ceremony at Shambala Garden, on November 26. Volunteers attending the function geared up with gloves, caps, and aprons to mix the cake amid hotel staffs, chefs, hotel guests, journalists, and others who made merry with drinks and appetising brunch.
The actual concept of cake mixing can be traced back to the World War II era, developed by a corporate mill. It was brought into being at least as early as the 1930s. In this ceremony, all ingredients are mixed well and stored until christmas to prepare the traditional plum cakes. On Christmas eve, this mixture is blended with cake batter to make cakes, cookies, stone bread, mince pie, Yule log, and many more.
